  • Overview

    General Summary:


    Primarily responsible for performing all functions that are required to provide technical support, preventive maintenance, service and repair for ZOLL Intravascular Temperature Management systems throughout Germany and greater Europe.  The service engineer must comply with ZOLL Quality Management Systems and procedures for product service, and assure these are followed accurately in accordance with required timelines.


    The European service center is based in Cologne Germany.  The successful candidate should be based in Germany, Austria or Switzerland and will be regularly visiting customers' sites in the greater European area.


    Essential Functions:


    • Respond to requests from sales team, Distributors, customers or end users for technical support on Temperature Management products. This will include both telephone support and hands-on troubleshooting and repair at the customer site (hospital).
    • Perform Preventive Maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of ZOLL temperature management systems at customer sites and at ZOLL service centers as scheduled and on demand.
    • Provide training on installation and demonstrate operation of ZOLL Temp Management systems to staff of sales distributors and hospitals.
    • Provide technical training of ZOLL Temp Management system maintenance to staff of sales distributors and hospital biomedical engineers.
    • Implement and document upgrades and/or modifications on the Temp Management system installed base throughout the European region.
    • Perform service related administrative functions including all required service documentation.
    • Maintain Device History and Service Files for European Temp Management systems.
    • Work in accordance with all ISO related procedures, test methods and forms for the full range of Temp Management Service Center activities.
    • Maintain optimal level of spare parts inventory in Europe to ensure customer satisfaction and system uptime.
    • Maintain Field Service related databases, and all service event documentation in compliance with ZOLL and local medical device reporting requirements.
    • Perform service support work on the LifeBridge and other products within the European region as required.
    • Up to 80% European regional travel and other international travel may be required.


    Skill Requirements:


    • Ability to professionally and calmly interact with all customers in various situations. To understand, assess and escalate customer problems to the ZOLL organization in a timely manner.
    • Ability to utilize electronic tools including databases, spreadsheets, email or any other means available to effectively perform the required tasks.
    • Excellent organizational and follow-through skills, mature interpersonal skills, self-motivated, disciplined problem solver.
    • Must have excellent attention to detail and accuracy in workmanship and service related documentation.
    • Demonstrated excellence in time management and organizational skills. Able to perform multiple tasks efficiently and without the need for close daily supervision.
    • Positive attitude, responsible, dependable, reliable and dedicated.
    • Strong written and verbal skills and knowledge of standard Office computer applications, in German and in English.
    • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment under the direction of the European service manager.


    Education/Training/Experience Requirements:


    • Up to 4 years of electrical engineering and/or biomedical engineering education at the university level.
    • A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in the troubleshooting and repair of medical equipment in the field or at a service center.
    • A thorough understanding of ISO 13485 medical device quality system standards and requirements.
    • Must be self-motivated, use independent judgment and be able to prioritize workload to meet daily business requirements.
    • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills and a customer-focused attitude.
    • German, English and other European language proficiency highly desired.
