Supports R&D activities in design and development, testing and troubleshooting for the applicable engineering group.
Works closely with electrical, software and mechanical engineers to build, troubleshoot and test prototype electromechanical systems.
Uses CAD software for part design, SolidWorks preferred.
Operates manual lathe and mill machinery, as well as basic shop equipment.
Designs and prototypes parts and testing fixtures.
Reads and understands engineering drawings.
Inspects parts per engineering drawings with calipers and other precision inspection equipment.
Writes documentation for Manufacturing Process Instructions (MPI) and creates/revises mechanical drawings in a controlled document environment.
Works with machine shops and fabrication vendors.
Sets up and conduct tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control.
Executes test procedures and records numerical and graphical results, and recommends changes to products or test methods.
Orders materials, fixtures and laboratory supplies.
Performs general lab and equipment maintenance.
Associates Degree, Electronics Technician certification, plus a minimum of five years’ related experience.
