  • Overview

    Responsible for mechanical systems engineering of medical products

    Responsibilities

    • Engineering of thermal, fluid, and electro-mechanical systems
    • Gather stakeholder needs and translate into system functional and physical requirements
    • Assist in overall planning of development projects
    • Develop and test proof-of-concept system prototypes
    • Effectively develop plans and communicate cross-functionally to ensure efficient system integration
    • Develop in-vitro and in-vivo system test strategies
    • Establish and maintain traceability of requirements
    • Lead hands-on, cross-disciplinary troubleshooting (e.g. including software, electrical, mechanical, thermal, fluid)
    • Identify situations where modeling and analysis can accelerate development
    • Develop system models to predict performance and diagnose system issues
    • Proactively validate system models
    • Develop and test algorithms to control system behavior
    • Document testing in the form of test procedures, reports, and lab notebook studies
    • Participate in design reviews, brainstorming, and other development activities
    • Ensure design and process compliance with appropriate regulatory standards (FDA, ISO, IEC, etc.)

     

    Qualifications

    • Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Significant experience developing specifications and coordinating and documenting design verification activities
    • Ability to lead and coordinate activities of multiple mechanical, electrical, and software engineers
    • Customer-oriented, hands-on, self-starter
    • Able to independently design and conduct experiments, analyze data sets and draw conclusions
    • Strong troubleshooting and failure analysis skills
    • Hands-on experience with measurement systems, electronics and laboratory equipment
    • Intermediate-level expertise in CAE (e.g. using Ansys, CFX, Fluent, etc.)
    • Intermediate-level expertise in system modeling (e.g. using MATLAB, Simulink, Python, etc.)
